Recognizing the need to address the academic achievement gap, a group of leaders in the Sacramento community formed Closing the Gap, a non profit organization dedicated to helping the youth in our community who have limited resources reach their highest potential through preparation, education and vocation.

Closing the Gap (CTG) assists education oriented organizations, agencies and institutions in closing the achievement gap with the strategy to raise awareness of this critical lapse in the education of America’s children while raising funds to help students at the local level reach their utmost potential.

By supporting local organizations that provide tutoring, college counseling, career guidance and real world experience to students from the 8th grade level up, Closing the Gap increases student’s academic performance in preparation for college, a successful career, and a bright future.

Closing the Gap supports local organizations that provide programs that address preparation, education, and vocation.

Preparation

Increases student academic performance with programs that help students improve their GPA, guidance counseling for UC/CSU college entrance requirements, and SAT/ACT preparation courses.

Education

Encourages students to pursue higher education by awarding multi-year scholarships to students with limited resources.

Vocation

Promotes positive work relationships with potential future employers through work force development, internships, and hands on training that exposes students to a variety of trade and industry professions.
